Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ large onions
- 2 good sized potatoes
- 2 celery stalks
- 2 carrots
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 cups flour
- ½ cups shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
Cut shortening into salt and flour. Add water and mix until the dough forms a ball. Set aside.
Chop potatoes, onion, clelery and carrots into bite-sized pieces. Mix together with raw meat, and salt and pepper the mixture to taste.
Roll out dough to about 1⁄8 inch thickness. You can either form balls in your hand and roll them out, or roll out a sheet of dough and use a pot lid as a cutter. Place some of the meat and veggie mixture on each circle, then fold over and pinch together. Cut 3 slits in the top of each pasty.
Bake at 450 degrees for 20 mintues. Then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 40 minutes more. Cool for 15 mintues and then serve with ketchup.
